Senior Leadership Team

Vice President for Technology

Commitment: ~5-7 hours per week (Remote)

Position Summary

The Volunteer AVP of Technology will provide high-level technology guidance and governance, helping to shape our technology strategy, assess current systems, and recommend improvements. This role is ideal for someone passionate about leveraging technology for social good.

This is a hands-on technical role, with a focus on strategy, direct implementation, vendor management, and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Governance (Primary Focus)

  •  Research, propose, implement, document, and troubleshoot NTLC’s technology decisions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Assess the existing organizational tech ecosystem and recommend optimizations for virtual programming and internal operations.
  • Guide the organization on data security, privacy, and best practices for a remote-first nonprofit.

Cross-Functional Support & Vendor Oversight

  • Offer guidance to leadership and staff on selecting and using digital tools (e.g., CRM, virtual event platforms, collaboration software).
  • Act as technical lead for virtual events hosted by NTLC, typically held on a monthly basis.
  • Assist in evaluating and managing vendor relationships for IT services, software, and security solutions.
  • Support staff in identifying cost-effective and scalable technology solutions for operational efficiency.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience in technology strategy, IT governance, or digital transformation (professional experience preferred but not required).
  • Knowledge of cloud-based platforms, cybersecurity, and data privacy best practices.
  • Familiarity with remote collaboration tools (e.g., Slack, Zoom, Google Workspace, Notion).
  • Ability to provide high-level technology recommendations and lead implementation efforts without direct guidance.
  • Passion for using technology to support mission-driven organizations.

Preferred:

  • Experience with nonprofit technology solutions for donor management, survey distribution, etc.
  • Understanding of virtual event platforms and online engagement tools.
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks (GDPR, NIST CSF, CIS Controls, COBIT).

Programs Team

Associate Vice President for Program Content

At the National Transgender Leadership Council (NTLC), the Associate Vice President for Program Content will lead efforts to analyze and plan a diverse base of subject matter content in the organization’s programming. In order to fulfill these responsibilities, they will meet regularly with the Vice President for Programming and the Programming Team. This position reports directly to the Vice President for Programming.

The typical week for the Associate Vice President for Program Content might include but not be limited to:

  • Attending a bi-weekly check-in with the Vice President for Programming
  • Attending a team meeting with the Programming team
  • Corresponding with colleagues in Slack to provide input on ongoing work, or propose a new concept for an event or initiative
  • Meeting with a member of NTLC regarding content of an upcoming event
  • Meeting with an outside partner to coordinate content of an event they’re collaborating on

Associate Vice President for Program Logistics

At the National Transgender Leadership Council (NTLC), the Associate Vice President for Program Logistics will lead efforts to logistically coordinate the organization’s programming, in terms of securing time and place, necessary materials, identifying any financial needs, and more. In order to fulfill these responsibilities, they will meet regularly with the Vice President for Programming and the Programming Team. This position reports directly to the Vice President for Programming.

The typical week for the Associate Vice President for Program Logistics might include but not be limited to:

  • Attending a bi-weekly check-in with the Vice President for Programming
  • Attending a team meeting with the Programming team
  • Corresponding with colleagues in Slack to provide input on ongoing work, or request support with aspects of an upcoming event
  • Meeting with a member of NTLC regarding logistics of an upcoming event
  • Meeting with/communicating with an outside partner to coordinate logistics of an event they’re collaborating on

Associate Vice President for Fundraising

At the National Transgender Leadership Council (NTLC), the Associate Vice President for Fundraising will lead efforts to maintain consistent and effective fundraising for the organization. In order to fulfill these responsibilities, they will meet regularly with the Vice President for Finance and the Finance team. This position reports directly to the Vice President for Finance.

The typical week for the Associate Vice President for Fundraising might include but not be limited to:

  • Attending a bi-weekly check-in with the Vice President for Finance
  • Attending a team meeting with the Finance team
  • Corresponding with colleagues in Slack to provide input on ongoing work
  • Meeting with a donor or potential sponsor
  • Completing a grant application

Associate Vice President for Racial Justice

At the National Transgender Leadership Council (NTLC), the Associate Vice President for Racial Justice will lead efforts to ground the organization in anti-racist values, policy, and practices. In order to fulfill these responsibilities, they will meet regularly with the Vice President for DEI and the DEI team. This position reports directly to the Vice President for DEI.

The typical week for the Associate Vice President for Racial Justice might include but not be limited to:

  • Attending a biweekly check-in with the Vice President for DEI
  • Attending a team meeting with the DEI team
  • Corresponding with colleagues in Slack to provide input on drafts for DEI guidelines
  • Meeting with a colleague to raise a concern, idea, or to propose a new project or policy

Associate Vice President for Accessibility

At the National Transgender Leadership Council (NTLC), the Associate Vice President for Accessibility will lead efforts to ground the organization in values of disability justice, as well as in recognition of the needs of disabled people, low income people, and others who may face significant barriers accessing our programs and initiatives. They will work to decrease barriers within our organization, towards mentorship and leadership being missions which don’t exclude any part of our community. In order to fulfill these responsibilities, they will meet regularly with the Vice President for DEI and the DEI team. This position reports directly to the Vice President for DEI.

The typical week for the Associate Vice President for Accessibility might include but not be limited to:

  • Attending a biweekly check-in with the Vice President for DEI
  • Attending a team meeting with the DEI team
  • Corresponding with colleagues in Slack to provide input on drafts for DEI guidelines as well as plans for upcoming programs or initiatives 
  • Meeting with a colleague to raise a concern, idea, or to propose a new project or policy

Communications Team

Associate Vice President for Social Media

At the National Transgender Leadership Council (NTLC), the Associate Vice President for Social Media will lead efforts to maintain a consistent social media presence across platforms such as Instagram, Bluesky, LinkedIn, the NTLC newsletter, and our website. In order to fulfill these responsibilities, they will meet regularly with the Vice President for Communications and the Communications team. This position reports directly to the Vice President for Communications. 

The typical week for the Associate Vice President for Social Media might include but not be limited to:

  • Attending a biweekly check-in with the Vice President for Communications
  • Attending a team meeting with the Communications team
  • Planning a posting schedule for each platform
  • Managing DMs and adding accessibility features to posts
  • Meeting with and managing content creators, taking on the role of creating posts as needed
    • As content creators have not been added to our team yet, this role will currently include creation of social media posts and necessitates experience with Canva and/or more developed graphic design skills. 
  • Communicating via Slack with colleagues to collaborate on upcoming posts

Associate Vice President for News Media

At the National Transgender Leadership Council (NTLC), the Associate Vice President for News Media will lead efforts to identify news platforms we’d like to work with, manage requests via email and DMs, and connect requests with appropriate contacts within the organization. In order to fulfill these responsibilities, they will meet regularly with the Vice President for Communications and the Communications team. This position reports directly to the Vice President for Communications. 

The typical week for the Associate Vice President for News Media might include but not be limited to:

  • Attending a biweekly check-in with the Vice President for Communications
  • Attending a team meeting with the Communications team
  • Managing DMs and emails, and connecting requests with interviewees from NTLC
  • Developing and distributing press releases for events or initiatives
  • Researching journalists to contact
  • Communicating via Slack with colleagues to collaborate on outreach and news media needs

Evaluation and Impact Team

Associate Vice President for Research

At the National Transgender Leadership Council (NTLC), the Associate Vice President for Research will develop surveys, listening sessions, and other methods of gathering data from communities served by NTLC. In order to fulfill these responsibilities, they will meet regularly with the Vice President for Research and Data and the Research and Data team. This position reports directly to the Vice President for Research and Data. 

The typical week for the Associate Vice President for Research might include but not be limited to:

  • Attending a biweekly check-in with the Vice President for Research and Data
  • Attending a team meeting with the Research and Data team
  • Creating survey questions relating to an upcoming event
  • Developing a plan for a community listening session
  • Identifying types of information which would be valuable to collect as an organization, and brainstorming methods of doing so
  • Communicating via Slack with colleagues to communicate plans and needs for upcoming data collection

Associate Vice President for Data

At the National Transgender Leadership Council (NTLC), the Associate Vice President for Data will analyze data collected in relation to NTLC’s events, initiatives, and more. They will uncover trends, patterns, anomalies, and changes over time in order to ensure the NTLC is best serving our community. In order to fulfill these responsibilities, they will meet regularly with the Vice President for Research and Data and the Research and Data team. This position reports directly to the Vice President for Research and Data. 

The typical week for the Associate Vice President for Data might include but not be limited to:

  • Attending a biweekly check-in with the Vice President for Research and Data
  • Attending a team meeting with the Research and Data team
  • Coding survey responses to identify themes and trends
  • Developing reports of findings, to inform the Senior Leadership Team of important takeaways
  • Identifying gaps in data collected and communicating with the Associate Vice President for Research
